- Aqueous based life systems – everything digested in and made from water.
- Water cycle to continuously purify and store fresh water.
- Batch processing of food for safety and mobility; includes grinding, wetting, pumping, digestion, extraction, and dewatering.
- Predefined and unique reproductive systems to insure consistent future generations.
- Internally developed command and control systems.
- Self contained engineering and change control systems (DNA) to improve designs over time.
- Circulatory systems to regulate temperature and distribute nutrients.
- Gas handling facilities to provide mass transfer of oxygen and removal of waste gases.
- Convection, molecular diffusion, and fluid flow to extract and eliminate waste products.
- Structural and mobility systems to provide freedom of movement and safety as needed.
As a chemical engineer by education, in a classical sense, my job was to build and operate production facilities that instantiated chemical processes like these that were invented and/or developed by others… my personal background:
- CF&I Steel (Pueblo, CO) – supervised chemical section of the Coke Plant, scrubbing coal distillation off gas to remove valuable by-products.
- Chemical and Metal Industries (Denver, CO) – supervised construction and startup of facility to produce antimony pentachloride, SbCl₅ (catalyst used in production of carbon tetrafluoride (CF₄), a refridgerant)
- Portland General Electric (Portland, OR) – conceptual design of a plant to gasify coal and use the synthetic gas in an existing combined cycle power plant to generate electricity.
