At the Regeneration

Regeneration (παλιγγενεσία – Greek) – paliggenesia new birth, regeneration, renewal, (from pálin, “again” and génesis, “birth, beginning”). There are only two uses of this word in the New Testament…

  ► Titus 3:5 – Spiritual rebirth, regeneration. This implies a renewal from the inside. The OT talks of this as God giving man a new heart – Jer 24:7; Other references that communicate this concept include – John 3:6-7; 2Cor 5:17

  ► Matt 19:28 – referencing the second coming of Jesus to set up His Messianic Kingdom, renewal in the physical/political realm – Matt 16:27; Acts 1:11; Rev 1:7;

Another closely related concept is reconcilliation – this is where Jesus paid the penalty for our sins when He died on the cross to provide us access to God’s gift of regeneration – Rom 5:8; 6:23;
