Devoted to God, Addicted to the Word

▪︎ Devoted (τάσσω – Greek) tassó  properly, arrange (put in order); to place in a particular order, appoint; (figuratively) ordain, set in place; “station” (J. Thayer), (“place in position, post”) was commonly used in ancient military language for “designating” (“appointing, commissioning”) a specific status, i.e. arranging (placing) in a deliberatte, fixed order. From a prim. root “tag” – Definition: to draw up in order, arrange. Translated as:
► “addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints” – 1Cor 16:15 KJV;
► ‭‭”devoted themselves for ministry to the saints” – 1Cor 16:15 NASB;
► “appointed” – Acts 13:48; Acts 22:10;

▪︎ Commanded (προστάσσω – Greek) – prostassó intensified arrangement, from prós, “move towards, with,” which intensifies tássō, “to place, arrange”. Translated as:
► “commanded” – Matt 1:24; Mark 1:44;
► “instructed” – Matt 21:6;
► “appointed” – Acts 17:26;

Personal Observations:
▪︎ Devotion is based on knowing God, true facts about Him and a true relationship with Him.
▪︎ This relationship is born from the Word of God, God’s communication with humanity.
▪︎ Obedience to God’s commands is born out of and flows from devotion to Him… an intensified form of devotion.

   ► Moses obeyed God and spoke to Pharaoh – Exod 7:6-7;
   ► Joseph instantly obeyed God – Matt 1:24, 2:14, 21;
