God Longs for Fellowship with His Children

▪︎ Creation was not complete without man. It was formless and without man. Only man was created to relate to God as intended – Gen 1:1-2;
▪︎ God’s intended purpose for His creation was to be inhabited by man – Isa 45:18;
▪︎ God created man, a relational being like Himself to fill that role – Gen 1:26;
▪︎ Only then did God consider His creation “very good” – Gen 1:31
▪︎ But man quickly broke that relationship – Gen 3:6;
▪︎ Thus began the saga that was only resolved when God fulfilled the promise He made to the serpent in Gen 3:15;
▪︎ God recalls this emptiness after the exile to Babylon, and Jerusalem and Judah were empty of men – Jer 4:23, 25
   (full text – Jer_4:23-28
      23I looked on the earth, and behold, it was formless and void;
            And to the heavens, and they had no light.
      24I looked on the mountains, and behold, they were quaking,
            And all the hills moved to and fro.
      25I looked, and behold, there was no man,
            And all the birds of the heavens had fled.
      26I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a wilderness,
            And all its cities were pulled down
            Before the LORD, before His fierce anger.
      27For thus says the LORD,
            “The whole land shall be a desolation,
            Yet I will not execute a complete destruction.
      28“For this the earth shall mourn
            And the heavens above be dark,
            Because I have spoken, I have purposed,
            And I will not change My mind, nor will I turn from it.”

▪︎ It is hopless from man’s perspective – Job 14:14-15; Deut 24:16; Rom 6:23;
▪︎ God’s substitutionary sacrifice is the only way back to God – Lev 17:11; Rom 5:8-9;
▪︎ If you recieve His free gift you can experience His fellowship – Rom 8:1-2; 1John 1:7;
